Father's Day Blues With The Etsy Latino Team!

Our article about Father's Day was published today on Etsy "Storque". Hooray!
The mere mention of Father's Day gives me the cramps!. Any other "day", Mother's, Teacher's, Secretaries or Valentines have very well defined shopping targets. Well, that is what all these days are all about right? I know, I know, you are supposed to recognize and celebrate the great deeds or fumbles of all the creatures that procreate, regulate, control and coerce you. And how do you do that? very easy. Mother likes to be taken to The Steak House at the end of a day that must include, breakfast in bed, no yoga, a trip to the spa with nails, hair and soothing massage. Done, easy.
La mera mencion del Dia del Padre me afloja el estomago!. Cualquier otro dia, de la Madre, del Profesor, la Secretaria o de los Novios me tiene sin cuidado, pues están bien claro que hay que comprar, ya que de eso se trata, no? Ya se, ya se, uno tiene que reconocer y celebrar las grandes hazañas o barbaridades cometidas por procreadores, reguladores, controladores y chantajistas. Y como se hace eso? muy fácil. A mamá le gusta que la lleven al Steak House, por supuesto que después de un dia que comienza con desayuno en la cama, nada de yoga, visita al spa con manicure y pedicure incluido y finalmente el masaje tranquilizador. Listo, hecho.
Nice teachers get scented candles for some reason. I guess unconsciously we imagine them in a sort of altar where we worship them and ask for their favors (usually A's). Nasty teachers get scented candles as well. We hope somehow they catch fire and return to Hell where they come from.
Los Profesores simpáticos reciben velas olorosas que les recuerdan que los tenemos en un altar donde los adoramos para obtener sus favores (por lo general A'es). Los Profesores espantosos reciben tambien velas olorosas, que esperamos les prendan fuego y los regresen al infierno de donde salieron.
Secretaries, we all know, get chocolates, usually the big box so we can also eat our favorites.The important thing in all these cases as we know, is that we do it first thing in the morning before the "other", otherwise we lose points.
A las secretarias todos sabemos que les gustan los chocolates, por lo general la caja grande para que nosotros también podamos comer nuestros favoritos. Lo importante en estos casos es hacerlo a primera hora de la mañana, antes que llegue "el otro", pues si no perdemos puntos.
But Father's Day? I shudder... The memory of socks and ties, even underpants or suspenders that my mom gave my dad as presents, forcing his otherwise gentle smile into a grimace as he had to fake the emotion of being remembered as a sock wearer has always managed to give me a bowel movement.
Pero el Dia del Padre? madre mia! tiemblo en pensarlo...el recuerdo de calcetines, corbatas y hasta calzoncillos que mi madre regalaba a mi padre convertía su agradable sonrisa en una mueca que acompañaba la necesaria pantomima de falsa emoción al ser reconocido como el calcetinero oficial.
