Desaster Relief/ Ayuda al desastre!

By
Lolos
AP-Waves of Tsunami hit residences after a powerful earthquake in Natori, Miyagi prefecture (State) Japan.

A few days ago Japan suffered a terrible and devastated earthquake and tsunami and a potential nuclear disaster as well. Lot of people died! Some cities totally destroyed. People right now are in despair waiting for aid.

Last year it was Haiti and Chile. Today is Japan! Against nature we can't do anything. But we can help as a human being as we did for Haiti and Chile.

Chile is Suffering! Mi Tierra Sufre!

Por Lolos
By Lolos
Saturday morning Chile was shocked by a massive 8.8 earthquake. The destruction was huge. Lots of families lost everything in just a few minutes. Bridges, buildings collapsed on the ground leaving pain, sadness and despair.

Lolos,

My cellphone was ringing early Saturday morning and I was woken up by my sister who lives here in USA like me. She gave me the news from Chile. I had so many thoughts in my head at that moment. I was scared about my Mom and my brother. We could not communicate for a long while with our family there. The lines were dead. Minutes of waiting were like hours. Finally after trying and trying I was able to break through and it was an enormous relief to hear the voices of my family sounding good and alive.

First words and contact after the Earthquake from our members who live in Chile.

memegalarce,

My friends, it was horrible. The earthquake reached 8.3 degrees...it never ended, people slept in the streets, there are 82 dead and counting. Buildings completely collapsed, floods in the South and on the islands, the airport and bus terminals closed for at least 48 hours. All over the Central and South part of the country there is a state of catastrophe where hospital collapsed as well. The most affected city was Concepción.

aylla,

I am OK and my family as well...it was a tremendous scare, it was terrible. I live on the 12th floor and it felt as if the building was about to fall...so lucky that it held up. Everything flew off the shelves and fell down, bookcases, TV sets etc. But the important thing is we are all OK. The sad part is that there are too many people in different regions that are suffering tremendously, dead or dissapeared etc.

mylittleaura,

I experienced like a tourist, in a downtown adobe hostel!!! I though the building would collapse...the beds were covered in dust, stucco and even nails. At least I was with my husband and my children. What I did is I went out and bought a pack of cigarettes (I had stop smoking 6 years ago...haha) anyway, I will stop smoking once back in Chicago!

Brushdesing,

It was too strong. Horrible scare and nervousness. Worst thing is that there are lots of aftershocks that keep scaring people and myself. There are more than 300 dead already and in the South of Chile people are without water, food or electricity. They are desperate and breaking into supermarkets to get some food. The regions are devastated by tsunamis and the roads are completely blocked.
Lot of nervousness, but personally I am OK.
Fue demasiado fuerte. Mucho susto y nerviosismo.
