Make your own mosquito repellent!

It's that time of year when mosquitoes come out at full speed. How can you protect yourself, protect your family and your pet of these irritating creatures without spraying you a toxic cocktail all over your body? Make your own insect repellent, is easy and will keep the mosquitoes away.


Ingredients:

• 20 drops of citronella oil or eucalyptus oil.

• 1 cup grape seed oil.

• 1 ½ cup water.

Preparation:

Add all ingredients in a spray bottle, mix well and enjoy a mosquito-free night.


Es esa época del año cuando los mosquitos salen a toda marcha. ¿Cómo puedes protegerte, proteger a tu familia y tus mascotas de esas irritantes criaturas sin rociarte un cóctel tóxico por todo tu cuerpo? Prepara tu propio repelente, es fácil y mantendrá los mosquitos alejados.


Ingredientes:

• 20 gotas de aceite de citronela o aceite esencial de eucalipto.

• 1 taza de aceite de semilla de uvas.

• 1 ½ taza de agua.

Preparación:

Agregue todos los ingredientes en una botella con atomizador, mézclelos bien y disfrute de una noche libre de mosquitos.

Aquamarine / Aguamarina

The aquamarine is a gemstone as eternal as the sky and the sea, the colors that it mirrors. Its name comes from the Latin word “aqua” meaning water, and “mare” meaning sea. According to legend, the aquamarines came from the treasure chests of mermaids, and many sailors wore them for protection and to keep away seasickness. Many people believed that the aquamarine gifted its wearers with courage and feelings of happiness. The color blue has always been known to invoke feelings of trust, harmony and sympathy. It is said that these gems had healing powers. Many healers used them throughout history to help with ailments such as arthritis, eye inflammation and sore throats. These gems were also said to reflect the cosmos. In astrology the aquamarine is assigned to the planet Neptune, which name is taken from the God of the Sea.
The aquamarine gemstone became the official March birthstone in 1912. Women all over the world love this stone for its ability to complement any shade of skin or eye color. Because this stone ranges in color from an almost colorless blue to a darker blue/green or teal shade, it makes the perfect accessory to almost anything and anyone. With a color range this vast, it’s no wonder designers call it their favorite gemstone. The most popular shades of this blue can be found in the mines of Brazil. One of the rarest and most intense of these blues originates from the Santa Maria de Itabira mine in Brazil, a blue that they have most adequately titled the “Santa Maria”. Similar shades can be found in certain mines in Africa, but showing how important Brazil is to the mining of aquamarines, they are simply titled the “Santa Maria Africana”. Another shade of blue that comes from the mines in Brazil is titled the “Espiritu Santo”, and even another beautiful shade was named after the Brazilian beauty queen of 1954, “Martha Rocha”. Maybe showing us that we, women, are as beautiful as gems.



La aguamarina es una gema tan eterna como el cielo y el mar, los colores que refleja. Su nombre proviene de la palabra latina "aqua" que significa agua y la palabra “mare” que significa mar. Según leyenda, las aguamarinas provenían de los cofres de tesoros de las sirenas, y muchos marineros las llevaban siempre con ellos darse protección y para mantener lejos de mareo. Mucha gente cree que la aguamarina le da a su dueño valentía y sentimientos de felicidad. El color azul siempre ha servido para invocar sentimientos de confianza, armonía y solidaridad. Se dice también que estas joyas tienen poderes curativos. La gema aguamarina se convirtió en la piedra oficial del mes marzo en 1912. Las mujeres de todo el mundo aman a esta piedra por su habilidad para complementar cualquier sombra de color de la piel o color de ojos. Como las sombras azules de esta piedra varían desde azul casi descolorado hasta una sombra oscura de azul o verde azulado, esta piedra hace el perfecto accesorio para casi cualquier cosa o cualquier persona. Con unas tonalidades de color tan vastas, por supuesto los diseñadores la llaman una de sus piedras preciosas favoritas. Los tonos más populares de este azul se pueden encontrar en las minas de Brasil. Uno de los más raros y más intenso de estos azules proviene de la mina Itabira de Santa María en Brasil, un azul que adecuadamente han titulado la "Santa María".
